Breakfast Roundtable: Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) SIG Breakfast Roundtable
The Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Special Interest Group (SIG) has held a Breakfast Roundtable meeting since our inaugural year as a SIG. At the Breakfast Roundtable, we plan to review critical SIG business, discuss the SIG plan for the upcoming year with our members, and honor trainee, early career professional, and CVD expert awardees. First, we plan to summarize the SIG’s achievements over the past year. More specifically, we highlight the projects the SIG has accomplished, especially with regard to collaborations among SIG members, between SIGs, and between our partner organizations. For example, we will highlight our work with SBM in preparing a policy statement and our development and dissemination of CVD-focused patient education materials. Second, we will review the strategic SIG plan for the upcoming year. During this segment of the Breakfast Roundtable, we will discuss potential SIG projects and future collaborations. This is an opportunity to foster engagement among our members and identify strategic goals that will help the SIG continue to grow and continue to contribute to the CVD field. In the past, this has spurred projects such as the SIG’s current project to prepare a Significant Clinical Research Question proposal for the Behavioral Medicine Research Council focused on CVD. Last, we honor our awardees, including a Trainee Research Awardee, an Early Career Professional Awardee, and our Founder’s Awardee, which celebrates mentors and other luminaries the CVD field. The Breakfast Roundtable enables the CVD SIG to connect with our members and strategically plan for the future of the SIG.
